Install Qt Automotive Suite

Qt Automotive Suite is a commercial product and requires a license to install and explore its possibilities. Use the guide on the Download Qt page to find the license that suits your need. The license you buy is associated with a Qt Account, which is required to install the product.

Supported Target Devices and Development Hosts

Supported Target Devices lists the target devices supported by Qt Automotive Suite.

Supported Development Hosts lists the development hosts supported by Qt Automotive Suite.

Prerequisites

Qt Automotive Suite is based on the Qt for Device Creation offering so the prerequisites are identical. For more information about how to install and configure these prerequisites on your development host, see Requirements for Linux/X11 and Requirements for Windows.

Install Qt Automotive Suite

When you install Qt Automotive Suite, you can select which Qt Automotive Suite components, SD-card images, and toolchains to install. To use the Qt Automotive Suite components on your host system, you also need to have a proper Qt version installed. Consequently, when you install any of the Qt Automotive Suite components, the suitable Qt version is automatically installed.

You can install Qt Automotive Suite as follows:

  1. Download the Qt online installer.

Note: On Linux, the installer needs executable permissions before you can run it.

  2. Run the installer and select Next to get to the Qt account section.
  3. Enter your Qt account credentials and select Next to run a license check against the Qt account.
  4. Select Next again to choose an install path.
  5. Select Next to see the packages available to install from.
  6. Under Qt Automotive Suite, you can see the Qt for Automotive Suite software stacks available. Under the stack, select the components and your hardware.
  7. Select Next and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Note: On macOS, currently only local development is supported.

Install Boot to Qt on Target Devices

Before you can test Qt Automotive Suite applications on the target device, you must flash the target device with an image containing the Boot to Qt stack. Follow the steps in the target device guide:

Once the installation is complete, start Qt Creator and try running one of the examples against an automotive target. With Neptune 3 UI you can test the reference UI for Qt in IVI. For more information, see Neptune 3 UI Insights.
