Qt License Service

Qt License Service is a client-side background process that manages the license reservation requests on the developer's machine. Qt License Service communicates with Qt License Server for license reservations and renewals, and caches successful reservations locally.

When a Qt or QA tool needs a license, it calls Qt License Service. Qt License Service first checks its local license cache. If no suitable cached reservation is found, Qt License Service requests one from Qt License Server. Once Qt License Server grants the reservation, Qt License Service stores it in the local cache so that subsequent calls from the same tool reuse it without a server round-trip.

If a cached reservation's lease time expires, Qt License Service releases it back to the Qt License Server license pool automatically. For more information, see License reservation logic.

Installation

If you use Qt Online Installer, Qt License Service is automatically installed for you as an on-demand service.

In other cases, you can also install Qt License Service manually. For instructions, see Install Qt License Service manually.
