Keyboard shortcuts

The shortcuts and mouse gestures you use most in Clate. The shortcuts below are for Windows.

Tools

F	Frame tool
R	Rectangle tool
T	Text tool
Esc	Cancel drawing, clear the selection, and return to the Move tool

The Ellipse, Polygon, Star, Image, Move, and Hand tools have no shortcut. Pick them from the tool palette. See Drawing tools.

Edit

Shortcut	Action
Ctrl + Z	Undo
Ctrl + Y	Redo
Ctrl + C	Copy the selected objects
Ctrl + V	Paste
Ctrl + A	Select all objects on the page
Delete or Backspace	Delete the selected objects
Shift + X	Swap the fill and stroke colors of the selected objects
A	Show or hide object bounds

Move and resize

Shortcut	Action
Arrow keys	Move the selection by 1 px
Shift + arrow keys	Move the selection by 10 px
Shift while resizing	Keep the proportions
Alt while resizing	Resize from the center
Shift while rotating	Rotate in steps of 5 degrees
Alt while rotating	Rotate in steps of 45 degrees
Ctrl while dragging	Turn snapping off, or on if it is off
Alt while pointing at an object	Show the distances between objects

Select

Shortcut	Action
Click	Select the top-level object
Double-click	Select the object one level deeper
Ctrl + click	Select the innermost object
Shift + click	Add to or remove from the selection
Ctrl + Shift + click	Add or remove the innermost object

Navigate the canvas

Shortcut	Action
Ctrl + mouse wheel	Zoom in and out around the pointer
Mouse wheel	Scroll vertically
Space + drag	Pan the canvas (release Space to return to your tool)
Middle mouse button + drag	Pan the canvas
Pinch on a touchpad	Zoom

The Hand tool in the tool palette also pans the canvas. The zoom field in the toolbar has a menu with Zoom In, Zoom Out, Zoom to 50%, Zoom to 100%, Zoom to 200%, Zoom to Fit and Zoom to Selection. These commands have no shortcut.

The shortcuts are fixed. You cannot change them.
