Usage Statistics Collection
When you install Squish and configure it to use the Qt License Server (QLS), you can allow QLS to collect pseudonymous information about your system and Squish use. If you decline, telemetry is disabled and no usage statistics are collected.
When Squish is configured to use the Squish Floating License Server (FLS), telemetry is not supported and the license server collects no usage data.
Principles of data collection
No personal data, such as names, IP addresses, MAC addresses, or project and path names are collected. However, QUuid objects are used to identify data records that belong to one user. These objects cannot be converted back to the actual values from which they were generated.
For more information about Qt privacy policy, see Qt Appendix for Privacy and Security. Squish respects the same privacy rules.
Turn on data collection
There are multiple ways to enable telemetry and allow the collection of usage data. All of them require configuring Squish to use a Qt License Server (QLS):
- During Squish installation: after entering a Qt License Server URL, select Help us to improve and enable sending usage statistics option in the next step of the installation wizard.

- In the Squish IDE: open license key dialog (Help - License Key...), configure the address of Qt License Server (if not already done), select Help us to improve and enable sending usage statistics option and save the configuration.

- In the command-line with
squishconfig: invokesquishconfigwith--license-server-qtand/or--enable-telemetryoption (see CLI reference for details).
Note: Once telemetry is enabled, it is possible disable it later at any time in the Squish IDE or in the command-line. The workflow is similar to the one outlined above: in the Squish IDE, select Disable sending usage statistics. In the command-line, use squishconfig --disable-telemetry option.
Data Collected
QLS
When using a Qt License Server (QLS) for serving Squish licenses, the local QLS license service collects telemetry data. Details about what data is collected are explained at data collection reference section of QLS documentation.
Squish
The following table outlines Squish-specific data collected from the local QLS license service:
| Squish version (since) | Collected Data Item | Purpose of Collection |
|---|---|---|
| Squish 9.2.0 | Squish package name | To determine which OS, architectures, Squish editions and versions are most used, in order to prioritize fixes and improvements |
| FLS bridged client flag | To determine whether a Squish client received the license from QLS via the FLS bridge |
